Saturday 8th July
The weather forecast was a little unpromising for our walk on Llantysilio Mountain. Despite this 8 of us met at The Ponderosa Cafe at the top of The Horseshoe Pass near LLangollen plus Monty the dog.
On what turned out to be a very undulating walk we reached the following Peaks with fantastic views in all directions. Moel y Faen 548m, Moel y Gamelin 577m, Moel y Gaer 504m, Moel Morfydd 550m.

On descending from Moel Morfydd the males in the party decided to take the slightly shorter route (3K less) back to the cafe (I think they were hoping to get a pint in before we got back !) whilst the ladies and Monty continued onto to Bwlch y Groes at 414m and then rejoined the route back to the cafe.

It was a day of waterproofs on/waterproofs off as the rain and sunshine alternated, culminating in multiple threatening thunder rolls. Our timing couldn’t have been better, once back to the cars the heavens opened.
We all went back to Helen and Richard’s for a BBQ (which actually became a grill) due to very heavy persistent rain. Very tasty and a great end to the day.
A great day out in an area that I haven’t walked in before.
