Tuesday Climbing Programme Winter 2020-21

Climbing Secretary: Andy Crawley

CORONAVIRUS

The Committee has decided not to publish the usual rota for Tuesday evenings at the local climbing walls.  We feel it is less certain that there will always be someone from the club there, and we don’t want people to have wasted journeys.  Also, walls may have to close at short notice.  We feel it is better for members to make their own arrangements, and this has worked well for outdoor climbing over the summer and can be more flexible.  If you wish to be added to the Whatsapp climbing group, please ask Sam Orton secretary@innominata-mc.org.uk

If anyone would prefer to form a regular partnership with just one other climber and needs help to find a partner, please contact the Committee and we will try to help.

Remember that climbing walls will have their own procedures for dealing with Covid-19, and numbers may be restricted.  Also remember to observe social distancing and the Rule of Six.

The BMC has published some guidance:

https://www.thebmc.co.uk/coronavirus-and-climbing-walls-questions-answers

  • There is a potential risk of transmission from shared gear.

  • Climbers are advised to use their own gear where possible, and to try to handle their partner’s gear as little as possible.

  • Avoid holding gear in your mouth.

  • Use hand sanitiser between climbs.

  • After use, quarantine gear for 72 hours.
