The club has a full programme of activities to cover all interests.
Every month we have a weekend trip away, usually staying in a hut or bunkhouse although in the summer we’ll sometimes camp. Usually these are to Wales or the Lake District, but sometimes we go further afield – for example, in 2023 we had trips to Kalymnos, and Lundy. Most weekend destinations offer plenty for both climbers and walkers. The December meet includes the club’s Christmas Dinner.
Tuesday evenings in winter we visit local climbing walls and from spring to autumn we get out to our local crags in the Peak District or Lancashire quarries. Through the WhatsApp members arrange additional activities such as Friday evening climbing and weekend day trips to the mountains in North Wales and the Lakes or crags in Yorkshire, Lancashire or the Peak District .
For walkers there are regular monthly walks, and these too may be fairly local or further afield, and vary in length and difficulty so there is something to suit everyone. Visit the Walking pages for more information.
Combining the two activities, in the same vein members will often organise scrambling day trips to Wales or the Lakes.
We’ve also been known to do a bit of caving, mountain biking, coasteering, kayaking and other fun stuff!
In addition, someone will usually organise other trips to exciting destinations. In past years these have included climbing in Kalymnos, Turkey, Sardinia, Morocco and Picos de Europa. For walkers there have been visits to the Norway, High Tatras and the Haute Route. There have been mountaineering trips to the Alps and via ferrata in the Dolomites.
There are also social events – curry nights, trips down Alderley Mines, ghost walks and barbecues are always popular and we’re always open to new suggestions.
